BOOM stand for?
A. Black owned or managed
Q. I had a horrible experience with a
business/organization listed in the blackpages – and I want

BUSINESS FAQ
Q. How do I
advertise my business on austinblackpages.com?
A. There are a variety of advertising options to choose from
such as a basic, enhanced or premium listing, category and
content sponsorship and banner ads. Please visit our
advertising page for full
details on all of your advertising options.
Q. Why is my business not listed in the austin blackpages?
A. That’s easy to rectify – just go to our
Business Submission Page!
Q. How did my business get listed on this site without my
knowledge?
A. There are a couple of ways this could have happened. A
staff member of the blackpages came across your business
info from any number of sources and entered your
information. Another way – a friend, family member or
customer entered your info on your behalf.
Q. And why would your staff be willing to do that on my
behalf? Why do you allow just anyone to enter information
about my business without verifying information with me
first? Is this a tricky way for you to be able to send me an
invoice?
A. The blackpages is a living breathing entity that truly
belongs to the community. In order for our community to reap
maximum benefit from the blackpages the data has to be as
current as possible and not getting stale waiting on staff
to update/verify information. We would need to hire
additional staff beyond our current levels (which increases
our costs and forces us to raise our rates) to have staff
solely dedicated to keeping the listings current. Instead,
we feel the easiest, fastest and least expensive way to keep
listings updated and current is to allow anyone from the
community to post or update the listings.
And no, this is not an underhanded attempt to charge you for
something you did not approve. All Basic Listings are free.
Only a duly authorized/verified representative of your
company would be allowed to create an Enhanced or Supreme
Listing – which are lpaid isting upgrades that provide your
business with additional exposure. Be sure to visit our
advertising page for full
details on all of your advertising options.
Q. The information in my listing is wrong and I don’t
want just anyone to be able to change my information. What
are my options to ensure only people I authorize can change
my information?
A. Once your Basic Listing has been created you can at
anytime click on the “Update information” link and
change/correct any information contained within your
listing. Additionally, you have the option to create a
password to protect your listing. Once we have verified that
you are indeed the proper representative and have the
authority to password protect that particular listing, only
a person with your password would be allowed to
upgrade/modify/delete your listing information.
Q. My business isn’t black-owned or managed, but I
certainly do value the African-American consumer and believe
my product/service is of interest to African-American
consumers and business owners. Can I post my business in the
blackpages listing?
A. Currently we are only reserving the listings for BOOM
businesses and organization. However, any business or
organization interested in marketing to our audience is
allowed to purchase a banner ad or sponsorship. Please visit
our advertising page or e-mail
advertise@austinblackpages.com for more information.
Q. I didn’t see any options for my city, state or
appropriate category for my business. Please help.
A: The austin blackpages is currently only accepting
advertising from businesses and organizations located
between San Antonio, Austin and Waco. However, any business
or organization interested in marketing to our audience is
